Day 2 of Pre-SNLC meeting focuses on energy sector

Former FSM Vice President Redley Killion with CPUC CEO, Mark Waite
(November 3, 2012): The second day for the pre-SNLC meeting of officials from the State and National Governments focused on the energy sector by way of presentations from Mr. Jared Morris, FSM Petroleum Corporation (PetroCorp) CEO, and Mr. Raman Nanda, an advisor for SoftBank, a Japanese-based telecommunications, internet and media mega-business that has also made huge investments in energy upgrading in other parts of the world.

According to Mr. Raman, SoftBank is taking the opportunity to dialogue with FSM leaderships and begin discussions on mutual interests in energy and FSM's prospects for improvements in this sector.

At the end of the meeting, the FSM Department of Resources and Development requested a focus meeting with PetroCorp and the utility officials from Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae to further discussions that relate to the National Energy Policy, energy agenda items for the Principal Leaders meeting and other matters.
