FSM NDOE attends a Regional Workforce Development Council Pre-summit Meeting in Guam

FSM NDOE (November 5, 2013): The Federated States of Micronesia National Department of Education (NDOE) sent a representative to attend the Regional Workforce Development Council (RWDC) Pre-summit Meeting held in Guam on October 21st to the 23rd, 2013.   Present at the RWDC meeting were representatives from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam, Republic of the Marshal Islands (RMI) and the Republic of Palau. Mr. John Curley, the NDOE Chief of Career Technical Education Division and member of the RWDC Council, represented the FSM. Each of the four FSM States has a representative on this council as the four State Governors are members of the Micronesian Chief Executive Summit (MCES), but their representatives were unable to attend the meeting this year.

The RWDC Council normally meets before the MCES to discuss workforce development issues in the region, make updates and propose directions for Leaders consideration at the MCES deliberations. This particular meeting was held in preparation for the upcoming MCES that is scheduled for December 4th to December 6th.

Started on the 21st of October at the GCIC Building where the Guam Department of Labor and the One-Stop Center are located, the RWDC meeting went into recess on the 23rd and will resume on December 1st in Saipan before the working groups series of meetings ahead of the Leaders’ sessions. Recommendations will be available at the conclusion of the council’s Saipan meeting.

For more information, call the Department at 320-2609 or email john.curley@fsmed.fm.
