FSM President Mori informs Ambassador Ronen on transfer of dialysis units

FSMIS (November 8, 2013): On October 25,  Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) President Manny Mori wrote Mr. Michael Ronen, Ambassador of Israel to the FSM, informing him of his decision to transfer the donated dialysis machines from the Chuuk State Hospital to the Pohnpei State Hospital.

"With the inadequacy of Chuuk State's water system and other difficulties, the Chuuk State Hospital has not been able to bring the project into full implementation. As such, I have made the decision for the machines to be transferred to the Pohnpei State Hospital to be utilized in providing services needed for our revel patients. I have instructed the relevant authorities to ensure progress of the transfer at the earliest opportunity."

It is envisioned that, in the long run, the donation from the Government of Israel will assist with the much needed dialysis services for patients with kidney complications requiring such care.

The Pohnpei State Hospital has been operating a dialysis section for a period of time for a growing number of affected residents.

The public hospitals in the other States do not have dialysis machine operations.
